Figuring out what to do after High School

Submitted by v8 on Saturday August 8, 2009 No Comments

As you approach graduation day from high school, you say to yourself: “What should I do now?” There are so many jobs/careers that you could choose, so which one should you pursue?

Determining what you are skilled at will help you decide what career path you should take. Be sure to look at what your strengths are with a critical eye. Are you good at math? Do you like reading? Is your attention span considered long by others? Do you get along with people well and enjoy interacting with them? The skills and traits you possess are unique. If you marry your skills with a career that interests you, you will have a fulfilling work life. However, if you do not have a good match, you could find yourself in a very miserable situation.

Don’t get those overwhelming feelings of despair. Try our FREE Skills Assessment Test. It is short, fun, and will give you an idea of what type of career might suit you. The results of the test will give you a list of possible jobs or careers that would suit you.

Finding the right career does not have to be a struggle. Be sure to make use of resources close to you like your High School guidance counsellors. Your counsellors can help you find careers, education options, or financial aide to help you pay for your education. Often times they do not have the time to track down every student and give each student a list of their options. However, if you make an effort and show some interest in your future, they will be glad to assist you in every way they can.
